On Aug. 31, U of L’s Health Promotion office put on a new kind of Farmers Market. Located on Gray street, the Gray Street Farmers Market strives to instill the idea of healthy living.

This local event, only a 9-minute drive from the heart of campus, occurs every Thursday in May until October from 10:30-1:30 p.m.

The focus of the Gray Street Farmers Market is to offer a sustaining source of food. It also serves as a platform for local farmers and vendors.

This celebration began as an outreach program for the campus’s U of L school of Public Health and Information Sciences and became a raging success.

Offering a variety of foods such as produce, bread and honey, sellers offer samples of their products to share with prospective buyers. This opportunity allows anyone to feel satisfied with a product before they buy it.

Another benefit of the Gray Street farmers market is that many local food trucks show up to the event. This allows attendees to have options for a quick and wholesome meal.

The Gray Street Farmers Market is a great way to discover Louisville in between classes or on a day off. Grab a fulfilling lunch to support the local economy and the university!
