Caught in a shootout in the Park Hill neighborhood, 20-year-old Lottie Eicher died of multiple gunshot wounds Saturday at University of Louisville Hospital. Eicher was a student at U of L.

Eicher, 20, was a sophomore studying civil engineering at Speed School. The mother of Eicher’s boyfriend said “She (Eicher) was excited about next year, being able to graduate.” Eicher’s family released a statement regarding the incident:

“The family of Lottie Eicher would like to express that the shock of their loss is fresh and they deserve time alone to grieve. Please respect their privacy as they mourn. Lottie was a Christian and cared greatly about the people in the west end. It is tragic that she was caught in the middle of these circumstances. Her family and friends will forever suffer her loss. Funeral and other arrangements are being made by the family and will be available as they deem appropriate.”

Aron Ballard has been charged in connection with the shooting that left Eicher dead and two others injured. A WLKY report cites there are others involved in the shooting who have not been arrested.

Ballard is being held on a $10,000 bond, and will be arraigned in court tomorrow, April 4.
