At the final SGA meeting of the school year, the SGA passed a resolution, suggesting a critical evaluation period to monitor President James Ramsey from April 13 to Jan. 1, 2017.  The resolution said SGA recommends the new top four hire an outside firm to gauge student opinions about Ramsey in a “valid and reliable survey of the student body.”

Board member Billie Castle explained this was written so there would be an unbiased survey for students to take and evaluate Ramsey. The Ulink survey put up this week only received responses from three percent of the student population.

SGA President Victoria Allen told the senate students opinions do matter. She reminded the group a vote of no-confidence so it should be taken seriously.

The resolution passed with 35 yes votes. The future SGA will vote later to bring up the vote of no-confidence again.

SGA also celebrated their accomplishments during their end-of-the-year banquet, concluded old business and welcomed in the new council. Old business closed with applause from the senate about the new food options on campus, the new SAC committee and talks of new parking colors on campus.

Allen expressed her appreciation to the senators, staff and council presidents for making it through a very challenging year for students.

“We through all the adversities we faced this year, students haven’t faltered once. Even when we were under national scrutiny, we had leaders continue and persevere through it all. So thank you so much,” said Allen.

SGA began by giving an award to ISLA as the RSO of the year. Mitchell Payne received the President’s Award for his close relationship with the executive branch and lobbying efforts. Dustin Cox received the Louisvillian Award, Ryan Luke received the Michael Mardis Award and Femmy Rose was award Senator of the Year.

The new top four Aaron Vance, Amanda Nitzken, Lauren Greenwell and Meredith Cooksey were sworn in at the end of the ceremony.

Other new positions include:

-Senate Speaker is Tyler Poteet

-Senate Parliamentarian is Ben Kaufman

-Senate Historian is Landon Lauder

-SAB Programming Board Undergraduate Representative is Brittney Chouhan

-ELSB Board of Directors Undergraduate Representative is Georgie Sook.

Both the Legislative Review Board  and SAB Programming Board Graduate Position were tabled until summer retreat.
