Powerhouse tours featuring two prominent musical acts are no rarity, but when artists from distinct genres join forces to entertain the nation, a closer look is needed. Such is the case when considering the spring 2007 tour of alt-rock legends Red Hot Chili Peppers and R&B phenomenon Gnarls Barkley.
The upcoming tour, slated to begin as early as January, was announced Oct. 16, to widespread anticipation.
The star-studded bill is loaded with talent and enough radio-friendly music to please the masses, but the diversity of the groups begs the question: will it draw a crowd?
Both bands are sure to have a devoted following of fans, most of whom generally stick to their respective bands’ genre. Given that a concert of this magnitude will certainly have a hefty ticket price, there is concern whether alt-rock fans will want to sit through an R&B concert and vice versa. Nevertheless, both groups are featured prominently on popular American radio which ensures a large number of diverse fans will be in attendance.
Cities for the tour have yet to be announced. More info regarding the bands and the tour can be found at http://www.atlanticrecords.com.
