Redshirt sophomore Steward Ijames finished 3-for-4 with his first two home run game and a career best six RBI to lead the eighth ranked Louisville baseball team to a series clinching 8-4 victory over St. John’s on Sunday May 16 at Jim Patterson Stadium.

Ijames, an Owensboro, Kentucky native, started the day with a solo home run to leadoff in the second inning and open the scoring for the game. Later he added a two-run double in the third inning and finished with a three-run homer in the seventh inning. With the victory, Louisville improved to 42-10 overall and 18-6 in the Big East.

Redshirt freshman Justin Amlung, a St. Xavier High School product, improved to 4-1 on the season allowing three runs on fours hits in a little over five innings. Junior closer Neil Holland earned his 13th save, highest among the team, and set a new single season school record for saves that was set at 12 in 2003.

Up next, Louisville closes out its regular season home schedule at Jim Patterson Stadium on Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET against Eastern Kentucky. Admission is free for the game.
