This year’s Career Fair, sponsored by the Career Development Center, is being held April 11 in the Swain Student Activity Center (SAC) Multipurpose Room from 12:30-4 PM. Fifty to sixty companies are expected to attend and will be recruiting graduating students and alumni from all majors for professional positions and co-ops.

Some of the companies attending include: Baptist East Hospital, Fifth Third Bank, Ford Motor Credit Company, Hershey Food Corporation and National City Corporation. Deborah Mayberry, Assistant Director to the Career Center, said that this Career Fair will offer opportunities for MBA students as well as undergraduates.

Students attending the Career Fair are encouraged to dress professionally and to bring their resumes. Many of the companies at the Career Fair will follow up with on-campus interviews coordinated through the Career Development Center. To sign up and be eligible to interview, students and alumni must be registered with the Career Development Center, located in the SAC room W310, or they can register online at http://career.louisville.edu. The Career Development Center is offering a new, technologically advanced e-Recruiting system. Once registered online, students can find help with resume development, job listings and matches, resume referrals and interview scheduling. The e-Recruiting offers access to a National Database and will inform students where their resume has been sent.

The Career Fair is an excellent opportunity for students to meet face to face with the recruiters and hiring managers of local companies. If they make a good impression at the fair, there is a strong possibility of being able to interview for a position within the next few days, provided they are registered with the Career Development Center. Members of the Career Development center know that with the economic slow down the country has experienced lately, this is a prime opportunity. Rarely will you have the opportunity to talk to 50 companies at one time. All graduating students and alumni are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and to attend the Career Fair on April 11, 2002.
