Many of U of L’s Greek organizations gathered in Memorial Auditorium last Sunday to showcase their song and dance talents in front of a packed house.

The annual event, known as Fryberger, is in its 65th year and has become a valued tradition among the Greek community.

The money is a part of “Greek Week” which raises money for various Kosair charities.

Each organization had their own theme and would choose songs and small dance moves which related to that theme.

The event is not without work however, noted Melissa Wermeister, a junior communication major and member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority.

She continued, “There’s quite a bit of practice…we’ve been practicing it since before the winter break.”

Those performing enjoy the event; however, performing in front of a large audience is still nerve wracking for some.

“I was nervous, but once you get on stage you really can’t see the crowd, so it’s not that bad,” said Brandon Gilmore, a freshman political science major and member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

The winning sorority was Delta Zeta with Sigma Chi bringing in the fraternity title. Second place was Chi Omega and Phi Kappa Tau in sororities and fraternities, respectively. Third place went to Sigma Kappa for the sororities and to Sigma Alpha Epsilon for fraternities.
