Cards Outclaw Tigers in Comeback WinBy Matt Gatewood

The University of Louisville men’s tennis team made a tremendous comeback against No.4 seeded Memphis, beating them 4-1. After a disappointing lost point at doubles the No. 5 seeded Cardinals routed the Tigers with a spectacular counterattack in singles play.

The team pulled together and made a conscentrate effort to beat the tough Tiger team.

“It was a huge turnaround,” said U of L Coach Rex Ecarma. “They were determined.”

The situation looked bad for the Cards, both at the end of the doubles and the beginning of the singles. However, the team showed determination against the talent and endurance of Memphis.

“They decided that there was no way on earth to lose,” said Ecarma. “When a player makes a decision like that, they are very dangerous,”

The Cardinals continue to play for the Conference USA championship by taking on Tulane in the semi-finals at noon on Saturday Apr. 20.
