     Former University of Louisville College of Education Dean Robert Felner has been sentenced to 63 months in prison for embezzling federal grant funds. Felner has been ordered to pay restitution totaling $2.3 million to U of L, the University of Rhode Island, and Rock Island Council of Addiction in Illinois. U of L is to receive $510,000.

     Felner was indicted in October of 2008 in Louisville on charges of mail fraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering, income tax evasion and conspiracy to impede and impair the IRS. The charges carried a maximum sentence of 75 years in prison.

     Following his time in prison, Felner will be required to serve three years on probation.
