"On the Edge" is an uproariously funny collection of performances from some of the most original comedians of today. Shot at the 2005 Montreal Comedy Festival, the film includes hilarious performances by Dane Cook, Louis Black, Harland Williams, Jim Breuer and the late, great Mitch Hedberg (whose death followed the production of the film), among others.
With such highlights as Breuer’s take on all-night binge drinking and Cook’s childhood confusion of aerobics with karate, the film is sure to keep the average viewer in stitches for the full 86 minutes. The DVD includes hilarious backstage footage of the comics amping up for their performances as well as separate interviews with Williams and Black.
Mrs. Henderson Presents
Steven Frears’ "Mrs. Henderson Presents" doesn’t quite know where it wants to go, but you’ll have fun while the film tries to find itself. The movie stars Judi Dench as Laura Henderson, a London theater owner whose West End revue was the only revue to stay open during the London blitz of World War II, as well as the first to feature nude performers.
Dench gives a delightful performance as Henderson, and Bob Hoskins is a treat as her hard-nosed but lovable theater manager. Frears’ direction is somewhat aimless, but he creates a tone that is good-natured and carefree, making it great fun for the audience. The film’s DVD includes
