“We need your help, day-walker.” Those simple words began an hour and forty minute rollercoaster. Wesley Snipes returns as Blade in this action-packed sequel to the 1998 blockbuster. Set a couple of years after the original, Blade has relocated to Prague, where he is looking for Whistler (Kris Kristofferson), who “died” in the original. They are met by an elite team of vampires known as the Bloodpack, and they make him an offer he can’t refuse: team up with them to take out an even greater threat, the Reapers.
Blade is based on the Marvel Comic book, and because of the first film’s success, it brought awareness to the general public about the fascinating character that is Blade. In fact, in preparation for this film, Marvel has released an adult-oriented comic book about Blade. Snipes proves he was born to play this role, and he has nailed it for the second time. Kristofferson is one of the best supporting characters in an action movie. For an old man, he can kick more ass than most people could on their best day. On top of that, they give him some of the best lines in this movie.
The assured popularity of this sequel has already got the producers planning Blade 3, which will not come out for a few years. If you are squeamish of gore, then I would steer clear of this intense action film. I could not even begin to count how many exploding body parts graced the screen. There is blood aplenty, and for fans of this genre, you won’t be disappointed. In fact, you might be thrilled to death; or hopefully, just thrilled!
