On Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 12:38 am, ULPD Officers responded to a loud party at the Retreat apartment complex.
Officers dispersed the party without incident. At approximately 1:09 am, as officers were still on the scene at the Retreat, they heard gunshots within the apartment complex. Officers responded to the area and found a victim in a vehicle who had been shot once in the abdomen.
ULPD officers performed life-saving measures on the victim until EMS arrived. The victim was transported to the hospital by Louisville Metro EMS.
At approximately 1:57 am, a suspect was located a short distance away by LMPD and detained. A handgun was recovered on his person. A ULPD Detective responded to their location and took the suspect into custody. The suspect was charged with one count of Assault 1st and two counts of Wanton Endangerment. The suspect was transported and booked into Louisville Metro Corrections.
