The Cards (4-3, 0-2) traveled to North Carolina to compete against the No. 13 Wake Forest Deacons (8-2, 2-0), but came up short adding another loss to their ACC record. The final score was 4-1.

Men’s tennis picked up the doubles point with wins on courts two and three.

Junior Josh Howard-Tripp and Alex Wesbrooks completed their match first with a 6-3 win over Wake Forest’s Matthew Thomson and Siddhant Banthia.

To even the doubles score, No. 18 Eduardo Nava and Henri Squire (WF) defeated junior Fabien Salle and sophomore Matthew Fung (6-4).

The Cards gained the doubles point as junior Sergio Hernandez and senior Tin Chen took down Adam Ambrozy and Taha Baadi (6-4).

The luck of the Cards ended as singles began. Wake Forest took over the four courts they needed to clinch the match.

Wake Forest’s Squire defeated No. 71 Chen 6-2, 6-4 to even the overall score.

Wesbooks fell 6-0, 6-4 to Rrezart Cungu (WF) to give the Deacons the lead.

On court five, Melios Efstathiou (WF) defeated Fung (6-0, 6-4).

The match was clinched on court three as Howard-Tripp fell 6-3, 6-4 to No. 107 Baadi (WF).

The Cards showed promise on courts two and court, but the matches were left unfinished.

Salle was up 6-4, 5-4 when match play stopped.

Hernandez lost his first set 6-2 but was up 6-5 in the second set.

Men’s tennis travels back home to prepare for their match against Notre Dame (5-6, 0-2) on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 4 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
