Women’s tennis (5-2) took down Boston College (2-2) this Sunday afternoon to add another win to their ACC record. The final score was 5-2.
The Cards started off strong by securing the doubles point.
Junior Rhea Verma and sophomore Andrea Di Palma finished their match first with a 6-2 win over Kylie Wilcox and Yufei Long.
Senior Raven Neely and sophomore Tatiana Simova clinched after defeating Laura Lopez and Marice Aguiar (6-3).
Junior Dina Chaika and senior Chelsea Sawyer were tied 5-5 with Hailey Wilcox and Sophia Edwards when match play stopped.
The Eagles fought back on court six during singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Simova.
Louisville pulled ahead as Neely took down Boston College’s Natasha Irani (6-1, 3-6, 6-3).
Verma gave the Cards another point with a 6-0, 7-6 win over Lopez.
Senior Nikolina Jovic took on No. 76 Yufei Long, but fell short (7-6, 6-3).
Di Palma clinched the match after a third set against K. Wilcox (4-6, 6-3, 6-3), bringing the overall score to 4-2.
Sawyer finished off the match by defeating Aguiar 6-4, 6-7, 6-3.
Women’s tennis faces a tough matchup against UNC on Friday, Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill. The Cards have a 0-5 conference record against UNC.
