The University of Louisville women’s basketball defeated Central Arkansas in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday 87-60, advancing to the round of 32 to face sixth-seeded DePaul. Myisha Hines-Allen scored 25 points and Mariya Moore added 16 in the opening round game.

Less than 48 hours after the win over Central Arkansas, Louisville goes up against its former conference rival at the KFC YUM! Center with a place in the Sweet 16 on the line.

Final: DePaul defeats Louisville 73-72.

30.2 seconds left- DePaul leads Louisville 72-70. Walz calls a timeout, U of L’s final one.

3:54 fourth quarter- DePaul leads Louisville 69-65. Final media timeout.

6:13 fourth quarter- DePaul leads Louisville 67-63. Durr scores on a runner in the lane, Bruno calls a timeout.

End of the third quarter- DePaul leads Louisville 62-53. Every time Louisville has closed the deficit, DePaul has responded, shooting 52 percent from the field and made eight 3-pointers.

4:59 third quarter- DePaul leads Louisville 53-45. The Cardinals have been able to score, but can’t string together consecutive stops to narrow the deficit. DePaul has moved the ball well.

5:47 third quarter- DePaul leads Louisville 52-45. January hits a 3-pointer at the top of the key, Walz calls a timeout. Previously, Jackson had hit back-to-back threes and Louisville cut the deficit to one point. January has 21 points.

Halftime: DePaul leads Louisville 40-32. DePaul is shooting 52% from the field while Louisville has eight turnovers. The Cardinals were limited by foul trouble in the first half, Louisville’s leading scorer Hines-Allen only played 12 minutes. Moore had eight points and eight rebounds, the sophomore’s career-high is nine rebounds.

4:23 second quarter- DePaul leads Louisville 33-25. The fouls are starting to mount up, both teams are in the bonus. Hines-Allen is sitting with two fouls. Jackson picked up two fouls in the first quarter, but is checking back in after the media timeout. DePaul is shooting 60 percent from behind the arc.

End of the first quarter- DePaul leads Louisville 20-18. Hines-Allen has 10 points. Moore ended the first quarter fouled on a shot behind the arc, hit two of three free-throws. The Cardinals had four turnovers in the first quarter and shot 40 percent from the field.

5:42 first quarter- Taja Cole checks in for Carter, the first Cardinal off the bench.

8:03 first quarter- Louisville leads DePaul 7-0. Coach Doug Bruno calls a timeout after the Cardinals start the game on a 7-0 run. Hines-Allen has four points. Moore hit a 3-pointer, a good sign for Louisville as she struggled shooting two weeks ago, but put together a nice game on Friday to breakout of the slump.
