White Reaper expected to rock the Red Barn

By Brooke Moody–

White Reaper, a Louisville original rock band, will be playing the Red Barn Jan. 21. The show will feature their newest album “White Reaper Does It Again.”

After the release of their first self-titled album the band’s members, singer/guitarist Tony Esposito, bassist Sam Wilkerson, drummer Nick Wilkerson and keyboardist Ryan Hater set out on a national tour. They returned to Louisville in 2015 to record White Reaper Does It Again with engineer Kevin Ratterman.

The band has a 70s pop – 80s garage rock sound that has been influenced by the styles and sounds of Ozzy Osbourne, Oingo Boingo and Lynyrd Skynyrd. When asked what fuels their music, Esposito said in an interview with Dad Rock, “That’s the kind of music that I like to listen to, personally, is the straight-on, hooky kind of stuff, where you can hear it for the first time and grab onto something.”

White Reaper is known for their high intensity shows that entertain and electrify the crowd. Their performance at Forecastle this past July was no exception. “The band had top notch energy live and it came from every member,” said Jonathan Coffman, music reviewer and managing editor of Live From The Internet. “White Reaper is such a young band and they’re already doing fun, inventive things during their shows.”

Next Thursday’s show, hosted by SAB, is expected to be just as fun and energizing. The band will be accompanied by special guest Spirit Week. Tickets for the show are $12 and can be purchased in SAC W310 and at upcoming SAB events. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.
