The spring concert this year will feature someone who is one of the most renowned “up and coming” rappers.

Although, many argue that he should no longer be on that list, because with his latest album he seems to have broken through to being a player in the game.

This artist is only 21 years old, and often appears with Childish Gambino and Action Bronson. His new mixtape was considered the 26th best album of 2013 by Rolling Stone.

One of his biggest hits, a song about “Cocoa Butter Kisses,” has over 10 million plays on Soundcloud.

If you haven’t guessed it yet, the rapper who will be gracing us is Chancelor Bennett, also known as “Chance the Rapper.” Chance has found great success with his latest mixtape, Acid Rap.

He has appeared at Lollapalooza and was the opening act of Childish Gambino’s 2012 tour. With his style being influenced by acid jazz, hip hop, soul and blues he incorporated complex patterns and a fusion of rapped and sung vocals. All the while having lyrics that take on his personal struggles and social criticism.

He comes to the Palace Theater on Thursday, April 16.
