Waking up early to gather at the old Cardinal Stadium and celebrate the approaching game: it’s a favorite memory of many Unversity of Louisville alum.

But there are a few things tailgaters should keep in mind before heading to the game. First, check the weather the day before, and dress appropriately. Second, bring drinks. Hot weather typically accompanies the beginning of football season, so prepare to stay hydrated. Also, don’t forget your tickets to the game. For entertainment, bring games like corn hole. Finally, be sure to allow enough time to make it to the stadium before kick off.

To ensure you are prepared for the day, here is a checklist of 10 essential things to bring:

1. Tickets
2. Games
3. Drinks
4. Coolers
5. Ice
6. Snacks
7. Sunglasses
8. Chairs
9. Music
10. Rain coat if there is a
chance of bad weather

The most important tip for generating a successful day of tailgating is to simply relax and enjoy the experience. Get excited about the upcoming game and display pride in the University of Louisville. Talk with friends, meet new people, compete in games, and, most importantly, get ready to cheer on the Cardinals to victory.
