On Feb. 14, Robert Fox Jr. will begin his new position as professor and dean of university libraries for the University of Louisville. Fox comes to U of L from the Georgia Institute of Technology where he was the associate dean of libraries.
According to Diane Nichols, the interim dean of libraries, the staff has kept busy in the meantime.
“We’ve concentrated on restoring frozen or vacant library faculty and staff positions this year,” said Nichols.
Anna Marie Johnson is the interim director of William F. Ekstrom Library.
“Once he gets here, he will see the needs we have and work with the staff to create the priorities,” said Johnson, when asked about Fox. “He’s very student-oriented.”
Fox looks forward to the challenge.
“On each of my trips to Louisville considering this position, I have been impressed with the energy of U of L, its library and the city,” Fox told UofL Today. “I really look forward to leading the libraries in providing resources and services to the entire community.”
Fox will arrive at U of L in February and will begin seeking to spread his positive outlook throughout the entire U of L community.
