On Thursday, Nov. 18, the University of Louisville’s smoking ban takes effect. The ban, which will be enforced on all U of L properties, including the Belknap campus, downtown Health Science Center campus, and the Shelby campus, will disallow all smoking on the premises.
According to officials, there will be a grace period spanning from Nov. 19, 2010 to June 1, 2011, enveloping the spring 2011 semester. During this time, students, faculty and staff will not be sanctioned for smoking. They were notified of this impending change on Sept. 3, via mass email from the Provost.
Campus Health Services and Get Healthy Now will utilize the grace period to make anti-smoking classes and products available to those who wish to stop smoking.
