‘SLOW FOOD ON CAMPUS’

10 a.m. – 12 p.m., free

Wes Jackson (pictured Right), founder and president of the Land Institute in Saline, Kan., will host a lecture on permaculture in the Floyd Theater of the Student Activities Center. The lecture will be followed by free tastings of local food in the SAC multipurpose room. The food will be prepared by Louisville chefs and the event is free.

ELECTION DAY

Nov. 2

6 a.m. – 6 p.m., free

This election, take advantage of what is both a right and a privilege in this great nation. Go vote! It will only take a few minutes. Remember to bring a photo ID. Prominent races this mid-term election will be for Louisville mayor, United States Senate and U.S. House. But there will also be elections for local judges, metro council and sheriff. To determine where to vote and to view sample ballots, visit elect.ky.gov and click on “Where Do I Vote.”

‘ARSENIC AND OLD LACE’

The comedy “Arsenic and Old Lace” will be directed by Amy Lewis at the MeX Theatre of the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts. This dark comedy tells the story of life in the Brewster family. Mortimer Brewster has two aunts who poison older men, a murdering brother who recently received plastic surgery to hide his identity, and a brother who believes he is Theodore Roosevelt. HOLIDAY SHOWCASE

Enjoy a fall afternoon with the Louisville Artisans Guild at the American Legion Post on 2919 Bardstown Road. The Guild will be hosting a Holiday Showcase which will feature 36 different artists. Guests can expect a wide selection of arts and crafts, in mediums such as glass, textiles, painting and pottery. DEAF AWARENESS DAY

Nov. 4

11 a.m. – 4 p.m., free

Interested in learning American Sign Language? Want to become an ASL interpreter? Come to the Red Barn for Deaf Awareness Day, sponsored by the ASL interpreting studies section of the Department of Classical and Modern Languages. Students will be invited to learn more about the deaf community. Don’t know ASL? There will be hearing students and interpreters available to assist visitors. Come out and prepare to be surprised at how much there is to learn. Free food will also be provided.
