Rumors that the University of Kentucky has been courting University of Louisville President James Ramsey had been circulating since it was announced that UK President Lee Todd would retire in June of 2011. These rumors were quashed on Thursday, Oct. 14. During the U of L Board of Trustees meeting, board member Debbie Scoppechio read a formal statement from the board denouncing the rumors.
“We want to reassure the community that we will do everything in our power to keep Dr. Ramsey at least through 2020,” said Scoppechio. “We will do whatever is needed to keep Jim Ramsey as president of the University of Louisville and for as long as he wants to lead the university.”
When asked whether or not he would consider entertaining an offer to preside over UK, Ramsey took a firm stance.
“No,” said Ramsey. “Absolutely not.”
