Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium Expansion Figures

As the Sept. 4 clash between the University of Louisville Cardinals and the University of Kentucky Wildcats nears, the expansion to Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium is creeping near completion. Here are some quick facts about what’s in store for fans at the stadium this season.
* Increased capacity from 42,000 to 55,000
* 33 new luxury suites, each with 18 seats, increasing the total number of suites within the stadium to 63.
* 1,725 loge seats with access to the 20,000 square feet PNC Club. With existing premium seating on the west side with access to the Brown and Williamson Club, there are over 4,000 club sets within the stadium.
* 10,400 seats in the new upper deck.
* 35 rows of seats in the upper section – known as the UPS Flight Deck – including three rows in the front of the cross aisle.
* 1,500 feet is the distance of each of the two ramps from ground level to the upper concourse.
* 20 new spacious rest rooms- four on the south terrace; four on the loge level; four on the suite level; eight on the upper concourse.
* 24,600 square feet of space on the Norton Healthcare Terrace, room for 2,500 fans.
* The loge level is 68 feet above ground level
* Suite level is 82′
* Upper concourse is 97′
* Top row upper seating bowl is about 160′ above ground level.
* $72 million construction cost, which approaches the $75 million construction cost for the original stadium when it opened in 1998.
* Two new 345 x 3 ft. LED ribbon boards, located on the facia of the east and west sides of the stadium.
* New 60 x 20 feet LED video board on the south end of the stadium, matching in size the existing board at the north end.
* New 13 x 9 feet LED video board facing outside the stadium to the south.
* New 18 x 5 LED information board on Central Avenue, replacing a previous display.
* Over 1,000 additional reserved parking spaces.
* The Platinum Lots, which were acquired through building demolition and lot construction across Floyd Street.
* The additions raise the total of reserved spaces surrounding the stadium in the Platinum, Bronze, and Green lots to nearly 8,000
