The 15th ranked University of Louisville men’s tennis team beat the 23rd ranked Virginia Tech Hokies 4-1 Sunday May 15 to advance to its first appearance in the NCAA Championships Round of 16. The Cards have set a new school record with 24 victories and just five losses on the season.
Though the Cards started by quickly capturing the doubles points, singles play went into three sets in all but one match. Junior Simon Childs used a rally to come from behind and give the Cards the final point needed to end the match and advance to the next round.
The Cardinals will continue competition on Friday May 21 at 3:00 when they take on 2nd ranked Tennessee in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Championships.
