The University of Louisville football team ended its 9-game conference losing streak, by defeating the University of Syracuse Orange 10-9 on Saturday, Nov. 14 at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium
The Cardinals recorded their lowest total offensive yards of the season, with only 151 yards. But they were still able to win, after junior quarterback Adam Froman connected with sophomore wide receiver Josh Chichester for a 15-yard touchdown, with less than two minutes left in play.
“It’s just a fade-ball in the end zone and we knew we’d have it,” said head coach Steve Kragthorpe. “It was a great play on Josh’s part. He made the same play earlier in the game, but there was offensive pass interference on that one.”
An interception by senior wide receiver Andrew Robinson, on Syracuse’s final series, sealed the victory for the Cardinals.
Next up for Louisville will be the University of South Florida Bullfrogs in Tampa, Fla., on Saturday, Nov. 21. The Cards have not won in South Florida since joining the Big East in 2005.
