The Kindle

This wireless electronic book reader has been a best-selling item on Amazon, and can hold up to 1500 books. Books can be purchased online in under a minute, from anywhere in the world, without any annual or monthly fees. The manufacturer claims that the viewing screen looks exactly like the page of a book, even with sun glare, but without the grainy impurities. With its new text-to-speech feature, the Kindle can read aloud. Price: $300. $500, expanded memory version, holding more than 3000 books.

Verizon Droid Smartphone

The new phone from Motorola boasts a range of features: voice-activated Google searching, three different virtual and physical keyboards, thousands of free applications available in the Droid marketplace, a panel that notifies you of new messages without disrupting your current activity, a 5 megapixel camera and the ability to watch full-length movies. Price: $200, with new two-year activation and a monthly access fee of $40 to $80.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2: Gamers lined up outside stores for this sequel in the Call of Duty series. It is a continuation of Modern Warfare’s plot, picking up where the last game left off. Players can now choose cooperative special operations missions, engage in multiplayer action with friends online, and use predator drones to wipe out opponents in multiplayer missions. It is available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or the PC. Price: $60.
