Today, Oct. 1, University of Louisville officials sent out an e-mail intended as an update on campus security. At the end of the message, it addressed the alleged sexual assault, reported to have occurred on Monday Sept. 28 near the Ekstrom Library.
“The investigation has been declared inactive,” said John Drees, U of L spokesman. “What that means is that there will be no further investigation until new evidence is presented. In the end, the U of L police have been unable to corroborate the alleged victim’s story.”
The e-mail also listed several changes that will be taking place on campus, to increase overall safety.
According to the e-mail,”U of L police have hired several new officers, reassigned officers to high traffic areas and beefed up patrols and security around student housing. U of L police also continue to work with the Louisville Metro Police Department to help identify potential suspects and criminal activity on the fringes of Belknap Campus.”
Students are encouraged to contact the Department of Public Safety if any additional information is known. Continue to keep an eye on The Cardinal  Web site for more updates as they come available.
