Volleyball extends streak to 10 in a row
Women’s volleyball extended their winning streak to 10 as they took down West Virginia and Pittsburgh over the weekend.
Against West Virginia, Louisville started slow but dug themselves out of an early deficit to win game one. Game two featured a battle between both front lines with the hard fought contest ending with a Louisville win. The Mountaineers finally pulled out a win in game three but to no avail as the Cards sealed the deal in game four for an easy win.
In game one against Pitt, Louisville trailed 11-8, but with an 11-3 run, they forced Pitt to call a timeout and the Panthers were never able to reverse the lead. In the second game, Pitt had ten errors which lead to a 15-6 deficit before calling a timeout in an attempt to swing momentum. After shutting the door on the Panthers in game two the Cards’ opponent took advantage of some early mistakes to get the win. In game four, despite Louisville getting out to the early lead, Pitt caught up and got within two points. However, the Cards were too much going on a 9-2 run to finish the match. Louisville moves to 18-6 overall with an 11-1 record in the Big East, the only loss coming from St. Johns on Sept. 29. Next up this week for the Cards is USF and Georgetown.
