Can’t find anything to do on campus? Well, don’t succumb to idle boredom. Louisville is filled with cool attractions and hangouts, all located within minutes of U of L’s campus. The fun activities may serve as a much-needed break from finals stress and anxiety. One really exciting activity is laser tag, a fun, action packed activity a whole group can enjoy.
You and your friends slap on space age vests and head gear, charge your laser pistols, and engage in furious mock combat. When your laser hits the special receptors on a person’s vest, you score a point for your team and the person you hit is “dead” and must recharge his pistol. The team with the most points at the end of the match wins.
Lazer Blaze Laser Tag,
4121 Shelbyville Road.
Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 4-9 p.m.; Friday, 4 p.m.-midnight; Saturday, 10 a.m.-midnight; Sunday, noon-9 p.m. Admission: $7.

If you like the thrill of simulated combat, but want real ammunition, try paintball. Two or more teams square off in an obstacle course with guns that fire little colored balls. When the balls hit someone, they explode into a large stain of brightly colored battle damage. Unlike laser tag, this is usually played outdoors.

Another cool event is the wall. These have become very popular at carnivals and festivals and are now present in lots of gyms. The wall is a big constructed cliff with grooves and hand holds that one tries to climb. It’s really good for muscle toning or practicing some real rock climbing. The whole thing is perfectly safe because you are attached to a bungee cord. so if you fall, you hang in the air and are lowered down.

For a more traditional night on the town, you might want to go bowling. Most bowling alleys have arcades, pool tables, and diners available, in addition to the bowling lanes. I’ve found there’s nothing like a night at a smoke-filled bowling alley to breathe a little fun into a Saturday night.
