Having trouble with a dysfunctional computer will no longer be a problem as the Geek Squad is coming. Geek Squad City, with agents aimed at mollifying the world’s computer problems and committed to improving the digital lives of citizens who live, work and play, are extending their mission to Louisville. Residents of Louisville and the University of Louisville are invited to attend the Geek Squad City’s Block Party held on Wed., Oct. 25, at 4 p.m. at the Belvedere Park in downtown Louisville.

The event will feature musical guest, All-American Rejects, as well as games and contests for all ages, a gaming lounge and food from local restaurants.

Wes Snyder, mayor of Geek Squad City, encourages U of L students to attend the event.

“I’m really excited to have the All-American Rejects and I look forward to meeting the students and building relationships with them,” Snyder said.

Paul Westbrook, a sophomore engineering major, is looking forward to the event and hopes to make the trip downtown. “I have a lot of work throughout the week with school, but I would definitely like to see the All-American Rejects so I will probably head to the event,” Westbrook said.

Snyder hopes some day to be partnered with U of L and Jefferson Community College as well, by bringing events to campus to help improve the digital lives of the students.

According to Zach Madden, the account coordinator for Geek City, everyone is welcome to attend and the party will commence with Geek Squad releasing a national wireless networking pledge, as well as a commitment to improve the digital lives of the people living and working in Louisville.

Madden encourages people to attend to see the area’s most accomplished Geek Squad agents and Louisville community leaders. The Block Party will be a celebration of the opening of Geek Squad City.

Madden said the Geek Squad aspires to incorporate technology into everyday life in Louisville. They hope to “revolutionize” computer repair for people across the U.S.

Geek Squad City has made a huge impact on the city. “We have already hired approximately 400 local residents and are looking to hire 100 more,” said Snyder. He encourages students to visit their Web site at http://www.geeksquad.com for information concerning employment opportunities.

Geek Squad city works in every city in the U.S. including Hawaii and Alaska, and has a partnership with Best Buy. Those interested in obtaining information pertaining to the Block Party are encouraged to visit http://www.geeksquadwireless.com.
