University of Louisville cancelled all online and in-person classes for Monday, Jan. 26, due to severe winter weather. Executive Vice President and University Provost Katie Cardarelli announced the update through a university-wide email on Sunday afternoon.

Ice, sleet, snow and below-freezing temperatures created hazardous conditions over the weekend. In addition to cancelling classes, the university suspended assignment due dates for Monday.

All on-campus activities have also been cancelled and safety escorts will not be available on Monday and Tuesday.

For students on campus, the Ville Grill is expected to remain open from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. on both days. Eiffel Pizza will also be open from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

According to U of L’s severe weather operations plan, the HSC Fitness Center will be closed, and the SRC will operate from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

University offices will also remain open; if possible, employees are expected to work remotely.

A decision about Tuesday’s classes will be announced on Monday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning through January 26, 07:00 a.m. An Extreme Cold Warning is also in effect from January 26, 07:00 p.m until January 27, 11:00 a.m.
