Do you enjoy sports? Do you have an abundance of school spirit and aren’t quite sure how to show it? Do you want to get involved on campus, but do not know how to get started? The solution is simple… become a member of the L Raisers.

The L Raisers, formerly known as the Red C, were adopted in the late 80’s by the athletic department and given an allotted amount of tickets to try and provide more support to every sports team at the University of Louisville.

The club provides members with the opportunity to purchase season tickets for only $180. This fee includes a the football and basketball combination along with two club T-shirts and first pick on road trips. The other option is a $20 membership which does not include game tickets. The L Raisers currently have one hundred season ticket holders and approximately 15 to 20 members. “We are looking to increase the number of tickets to give out, as well as the number of members in the club,” says Kyle Wood, President of the L Raisers.

“Aside from the fact that you get really good seats, it is really a lot of fun,” stated Wood, “it really is a group of dedicated U of L fans showing support for their team.”

Although the club does not travel to all away games, they do choose one game a year to attend. “This year we are trying to go to the game against Duke,” says Wood.

Brian Russell, a senior sports administration major, is in charge of publicity and promotion for the L Raisers and has been a member for two years. He says, “It is an opportunity to get involved on campus, and it is also an exciting way to support to all athletics.”

Tickets are still available for this season, but first you must join that noisy bunch that screams “L Yes” when asked if the Cardinals are going to beat the Wildcats! If you would like more information on how you can become a member of the L Raisers, e-mail Kyle Wood at chop936@juno.com or attend a monthly meeting which takes place the first Monday of each month in the Floyd Theatre.
