All the turkey has been gobbled and the season of giving is now upon us. So after you fill up on food, you can donate to the Ninth Annual “Dining Out for Life” campaign tomorrow.
Tomorrow, 38 local restaurants will donate at least 20 percent of their profits to the House of Ruth to support the Glade House. Participating restaurants, listed below with contact information, will participate during breakfast, lunch and/or dinner.
Dining Out for Life is an annual fundraising event made possible by volunteers, corporate sponsors and restaurants. This year’s event is sponsored by Absolut, Coors Light, Fifth Third Bank, PREP Magazine, PowerCreative, Digital Business Solutions, Louisville Originals, TARC and Preferred Printing & Promotions.
Dining Out for Life was created in 1991 by an ActionAIDS volunteer in Philadelphia. The event went nationwide in 1993. It is now in over 33 cities with an average of two to three cities being added each year.
Lexington participated in the event on Oct. 2, 2003, and more than 2,500 restaurants a year donate a portion of their proceeds to a specific agency in their city. Over $2 million a year is raised to support the missions of agencies throughout North America.
The Glade House, the mission of choice for this year’s Dining Out for Life event, is a residential living facility for HIV-positive individuals and is managed by the House of Ruth in Louisville.
