Student Government Association candidates for the March 2 – 4 elections are officially campaigning and debating for their offices.
Students can vote for the top four SGA positions: Student Body President, Executive Vice President, Academic Vice President and Services Vice President.
Candidates for these four positions will debate on Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Floyd Theatre. Questions must be sent to SGA Chief Justice Tim Brauch at sgacourt@louisville.edu as quiries from the audience will not be taken at the debate. Student organizations will be hosting their own debates.
Students serving on SGA receive a stipend, tuition remission, or tuition remission on top of a stipend. The exact payment is being reconsidered due to resolution 6 in the SGA Senate.
Arts and Sciences, Business and Education students can vote for their respective student council president, vice president and one of their senators through the SGA elections.
Dental, Graduate, Kent, Law, Medicine, Nursing and Public Health students must vote for their officers outside of the SGA elections. Contact your council president to attain these voting procedures.
Speed and Music students can vote for certain offices through the SGA general election and the remaining offices through the respective council’s procedures.
Council presidents and vice presidents work within their schools and sit on the SGA Senate with council senators.
“The senators serve in different university wide committees,” said Brauch.
More information regarding the SGA elections and the candidates will be included in the Feb. 24 issue of the Cardinal.
