As I sit, freezing in my office, U of L participates in a “global warming teach-in”. Many parts of the world recently had unusually cold weather. Dubai just experienced their second snow in recorded history. Global temperatures peaked in 1998. Yet, e-mails say in inexplicably precise terms “the amount of carbon dioxide in the earth’s atmosphere must drop from 384 parts per million to 350 parts per million to begin reversing global warming.”
Many scientists say that the small amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere cannot affect global temperatures. (Changes in carbon dioxide levels follow atmospheric temperature changes by many years.) Based on ice core samples, Russian scientists predict declining temperatures in the future.
I suspect we are being subjected to a concerted propaganda campaign. Even large energy companies have joined in because they have positioned themselves to make huge profits off the new “green energy” or want to reduce their loss of profits. Many economists believe the costs of combating carbon emissions will far exceed costs of any “global warming”– and those costs will disproportionately affect poor people.
Make a case for energy independence or reducing air pollution; please don’t try to scare me with man-made “global warming”.
