Office of Student Affairs conducts student survey
The Office of Student Affairs has selected a number of University of Louisville undergraduate students to complete a survey. The 15-minute survey consists of questions relevant to U of L and all answers will remain anonymous. Those who complete the survey receive the chance to win a $100 gift card to the U of L Bookstore. Those students who have been selected are encouraged to view the Web site and enter their seven digit student identification number. The student will then proceed with questions detailing how they feel about U of L. Participating students will be entered into a drawing to win one of ten $100 gift cards to the U of L Bookstore.Those who have questions or need information should contact Becky Clark at 852-5197, or the Office of Student Affairs at 852-6933. The survey continues until tomorrow, Nov. 15.
Author to speak at Strickler today
The Louisville Debate Society will present Joe Miller, journalist and author of the book “Cross X: A Turbulent, Triumphant Season With an Inner-city Debate Squad” today from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Strickler, room 101. University of Louisville sophomore Ebony Rose is one of the main characters in the book. The second half of the book highlights the experiences of the Louisville Debate Society. The book will be available for purchase and those requesting more information are encouraged to contact George Zubaty at 852-0967.
Planetarium set for holiday schedule
The Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium is featuring “Star of Bethlehem” and “Laser Holidays” for its holiday schedule, which will begin on Fri., Nov. 17. University of Louisville students are encouraged to attend with the discounted rate of $5. However, students must have their student identification card. The Planetarium will offer 10 percent off of gift shop purchases for students as well. The Planetarium is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday evening from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Provost’s recognizes exemplary advising
University of Louisville Executive Vice President and Provost Shirley Willihnganz is encouraging students to nominate an advisor for the Eighteenth Annual Provost Awards for Exemplary Advising.Established in 1990, the awards annually recognize outstanding faculty and professional advisors. The eligibility criteria and nomination procedure may be found at http://www.louisville.edu/provost/award.The deadline for nominations is Dec. 1. A student may nominate someone in each of the following categories: ? Professional Academic Advisor/Coordinator/Counselor/Consultant or Administrator whose primary and current job responsibility is advising students. ? Full-time Faculty Member whose primary advising responsibility is advising undergraduate students. ? Full-time Faculty Member whose primary advising responsibility is advising graduate or professional students.

Cards for Life plan annual trip to Washington, D.C.
The Cards for Life will be making their annual trip to Washington D.C. to participate in the March for Life. The trip will take place from Fri., Jan. 19 through Tues., Jan. 23. The group representing the University of Louisville will take part in the march to show their support of anti-abortion issues. The group will also attend the Students for Life of America Conference and they will view the sights of the nation’s capital. Those interested should contact Michael Oghia at mjoghi01@louisville.edu.
Applications available for 2007 Mr., Ms. Cardinal
The University of Louisville will be giving an award to a senior male and senior female as Mr. and Ms. Cardinal. The award stems from an individuals academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, contributions to U of L and an interview. Those interested seniors are encouraged to apply for this award. However, to be eligible, one must have 90 credit hours and a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average. To locate the application, simply go to http://www.louisville.edu/student/vpsa/forms/mmcardinal.htm. The deadline is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21. The interviews for the award will be held on Monday, Nov. 27 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Author to speak today in Student Activities Center
Patrick Combs will be speaking today at 7:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the Student Activities Center. A free presentation featuring a highly noted speaker for time management future building skills. Combs is an author from San Diego, Cal. Students are encouraged to come hear Combs speak and also learn more about the REACH and career centers.
