First annual A & S art exhibit to be held at Red Barn
The College of Arts & Sciences Student Council will hold the first annual University of Louisville art exhibit – on Wed., April 9, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., in the Red Barn.
Any one can enter up to four pieces in the exhibit, which will be free and open for all to view. Free food and entertainment will be provided to all who attend. After the exhibit, there will be an artists’ reception in the Belknap Research Building, room 139 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday Academy to continue with ‘Race and Reality’
The College of Arts & Sciences will continue its Saturday Academy sessions on April 12, with the second presentation of the “Race and Reality” series, offering a presentation called “Perspectives on Hurricane Katrina-Year 3.”
The presentation will be done by Stacy Deck, a student in the Kent School of Social Work at the University of Louisville and will take place in the DuValle Education Center Cafeteria, 3610 Bohne Avenue.
The Saturday Academy is a community outreach initiative to be offered throughout the month of April by the College of A & S.
Two additional Saturday sessions are yet to come, with the April 19 session being slated for an appearance by Congressman John Yarmuth.

Convocation of Thanks to be held on HSC
The University of Louisville Schools of Medicine, Dentistry and Public Health will hold a Convocation of Thanks on Thur., April 10, for the individuals who have donated their bodies for education and research efforts. They will be honored in a presentation that will include music, personal reflection and a candlelight ceremony.
The event will take place at 6 p.m. at the Health Sciences Center Auditorium, 500 South Preston Street. The event is free and open to the public and more information can be received by calling the Department of Anatomical Sciences and Neurobiology at (502) 852-5167.
National Public Health Week to be held April 7-13
The University of Louisville will observe National Public Health Week, April 7-13 with two events focusing on the effect of global climate change on public health.
The first event will be a roundtable discussion on climate change to be held on Wed., April 9, with several members of the U of L faculty and other climate experts on the panel. The roundtable will take place from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. in the Kornhauser Health Sciences Library Auditorium, 500 S. Preston Street on the U of L Health SciencesCampus.
The second event will be held on Fri., April 11, with biology Professor Paul Ewald presenting “Emerging Diseases: How to Distinguish the Few Grave Threats fromthe Many Fizzlers.” Ewald will speak from noon-1 p.m. in the K Building, 555 South Floyd Street.

African American Theater Program to open play
The African American Theater Program at the University of Louisville will open “The Adventures of a Black Girl in Search of God” on April 16 and will run through April 20. The play will be performed at 8 p.m. nightly at the Playhouse on Third Street, with a matinee showing at 3 p.m. Sun., April 20.
Ticket prices are $12 for the general public and $8 for students and senior citizens. Reservations can be made by calling the box office at 852-6814. Questions about the play can be directed to Deana Thomas at 852-8442.
