Are you tired of eating Chic-fil-a for every meal? Ever had one of those days when you were starving to death, yet you had to wait in an endless line of angry local elementary school kids? Are you just plain sick of the SAC? If you answered yes to any of the above, then why not pay a visit to Mitzi’s. Mitzi’s is located inside of the Miller Technology Center on the first floor. Mitzi’s offers a very intermit environment, far from the hustle and bustle of the SAC. It’s a great place to read a book, study for that upcoming test, converse with friends or just cool out with that new CD your just burnt. Mitzi’s also offers a space for outside dining (for those warm spring afternoons), and has recently renovated itself to add 75 more seats.

Mitzi’s actually started out in 1992 as a cafeteria called “The Sub”. The Sub was located on the second floor of the Miller Technology center. In 1997 the cafeteria moved downstairs and adopted the new name Mitzi’s. 3rd semester cafe manager Laurie Wilkins shares why she enjoys her job. “Our cafeteria offers a smaller, cozier atmosphere that the SAC”, says Wilkins. She continues, “My favorite part of the job however, is the people. At Mitzi’s we get the same crowd everyday. It’s nice to see those familiar faces. The people who eat here are also real appreciative of the job we do. They will come up to me and say ‘I really liked this or I really liked that’, and that feels real good”.

The major thing that sets Mitzi’s apart from the rest of the competition is its menu. With Papa John no where in sight, Mitzi’s offers dishes that can’t be found anywhere else on campus. ” I like eating at Mitzi’s because they actually have good tasting food unlike the SAC”, says freshman Heath Hawkins. Aaron Price agrees, “I like eating at Mitzi’s because they offer foods like spaghetti which they don’t offer at the SAC. Plus the sandwiches are good”. Feel free to cruise by the pasta bar, or help yourself to a warm bowl of soup to warm you up on those cold winter days. But the most unique aspect of the menu however, are the fresh handmade sandwiches composed by the house chef Charles. With several signature sandwiches, the option to create your own, and other various treats, Mitzi’s offers a taste for everyone.
