Derby Festival supports research efforts at U of L

The Kentucky Derby Festival, which ended May 5, not only brought national attention to Louisville, but also brought attention to several University of Louisville research efforts: The Barnstable Brown Gala gave $841,000 to U of L diabetes research, the Derby Festival Foundation gave $30,000 to U of L’s STAR (Systematic Treatment of Autism and Related Disorders) program, and the 2007 Mint Jubilee raised funds for the James Graham Brown Cancer Center.

Information Technology to switch U of L e-mail providers

According to the University of Louisville Information Technology center, they will no longer support U of L Netmail accounts beginning Aug. 3. IT encourages students to switch their official university accounts from Netmail to Groupwise from the Netmail start page or from https://webapp.louisville.edu/tsg/migrate.php

U of L Libraries open special collections of Ky. history online

Last week the University of Louisville libraries unveiled a Digital Collections webpage that will allow students to browse selected portions of the university archives and special collections. According to a May 1 release, ” this growing resource will include rare and unique images, documents, and oral histories that are freely available for educational and research purposes.” Students can use the site at http://digital.library.louisville.edu.

Graduating students to say farewell at May 12 Commencement

The University of Louisville will hold its 2007 commencement May 12 at 1 p.m. at the Kentucky Exposition Center.

There is no cost for students who wish to say goodbye to the graduating class of 2007. University President Dr. James Ramsey will host a President’s Reception immediatley following the ceremony open to all graduates and their guests.

Cardinals to run for cure in May

The University of Louisville Alumni Association will hold a 5k run/walk to benefit the “Finding the Answers to Cancer” campaign for the James Graham Brown Cancer Center next month. The run will begin and end at Fourth Street Live on May 26, 8:30-9:30 a.m. Registration forms can be found at http://alumni.louisville.edu, and the cost is $5 for students.
