The College Republicans of the University of Louisville hosted “The Legacy Dinner” on March 31.

The formal event held at the Frasier Arms Museum downtown featured state candidate hopefuls as well as Rev. John Crittenden as the keynote speaker. Candidates present were Rep. Brandon Smith, Rep. Ken Upchurch and a representative for Rep. Lonnie Napier.

All of the candidates are vying for the office of State Treasurer this election season. A representative for Secretary of State hopeful Trey Grayson spoke on his behalf as well.

The gubernatorial candidates included lieutenant governor candidate Dick Wilson who is running with governor candidate Billy Harper, and lieutenant governor candidate Robbie Rudolph who is running alongside governor incumbent candidate Gov. Ernie Fletcher. Crittenden, from the Forrest Missionary Baptist Church and a former Democrat, spoke on the African-American democratic subculture and the need for political awareness among blacks in Louisville.

A local comedian was also part of the entertainment.
