The Big Dance and the season ended for the Cardinals at Rupp Arena this past weekend as they fell 72-69 to Texas A&M in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Freshmen point guard Edgar Sosa, pictured at left, scored a career high 31 points including hitting 15 consecutive free throws. Sophomore forward Terrence Williams added 17 points.

The Cards and the Aggies battled evenly for most of the game, totaling 51 fouls. However, the final 30 seconds proved to be too much for the young Louisville team, as Sosa missed two free throws and a final hurled three point attempt that fell short.

Cardinal Head Coach Rick Pitino called Sosa’s shot “terrible,” attributing it to the team not playing tough enough mentally.

Emotionally drained, Sosa had to be escorted to the locker room showers following his missed desperation three point attempt within the final three seconds.

U of L finished the season with a record of 24-10.
