After losing two straight, the women’s basketball team responed with back-to-back victories to improve their record to 24-5, 10-5 in the Big East. Earlier in the week, the Cards destroyed St. John’s University at home 91-62. With Angel McCoughtry leading them with 21 points and 14 rebounds on the offensive attack. Helen Johnson also put up 21, and Patrika Barlow dished out 11 assists.
Saturday the Cards faced off at Syracuse University, with Louisville coming out on top 68-56. McCoughtry had another big game putting up 20 points and seven rebounds. Brandie Radde also added 15. Louisville is currently ranked No. 20 and is preparing to start the Big East conference tournament. This season has been an improvement from the 19-10 record they held last year.
Although the team is doing well, head coach Tom Collen is still taking all of their Big East opponets seriously, noting that they have to play one game at a time in the Big East.
