Although rappers Kanye West or Ludacris weren’t there to partake in duets with Jamie Foxx during his performance of their big hits “Gold Digger” and “Unpredictable,” Foxx held his own in a fly white two-piece suit.
He drove the ladies wild as he catered to them with explicit lyrics and gyration of his hips frequently in his sold-out concert Wed., Feb. 7. As serious in the movie
“Collateral” or as the totally hilarious opposite in “Booty Call,” he proved he has range.
He gave a two-hour performance, which started out as a comedy performance, and any celebrity who has been in recent news was not safe, particularly Britney Spears due to her no panty antics and Michael Richards (Kramer) because of his racist rant at a comedy club.
Needless to say this is not the performance you want your little sister or brother to see, but Foxx does what he does best and that is to entertain. “I’m an Oscar winner,” he exclaimed repeatedly during the comedy part of the show.
His portrayal of Ray Charles in “Ray” earned him an Oscar in 2005. During the show, a piano rolled out with him in full Ray Charles mode performing such classics as “Georgia.”
He also blended Charles’ lyrics by going from blues piano to adding a deejay for some hip-hop beats to perform the Grammy winning rap song “Gold Digger.” When that happened, everyone got out of their seats and sung along.
Fans showed a lot of love providing Foxx with a sold out show at The Palace Theater in Louisville and he reciprocated.
Foxx proved that he has energy to burn and has the ability to bounce back and forth within many entertainment genres: television, movies and now concerts.
