Love:
The University of Louisville, situated in the 27th most populated city in the U.S., is a shining example of what a few trees can do for the looks of a campus. Even though it is surrounded by urban and economic development, foliage abounds, giving the feeling of a college campus not found between an airport and the downtown area of a boisterous city. More than just vegetation, banners and flags wave proudly around the campus, touting the illustrious history of the university.
Hate:
Poor drainage has continually drowned students’ shoes and opinions of the university’s beauty. It is hard to consider a campus covered with puddles, sometimes ponds of water, to be beautiful, especially when students must wade across sidewalks to traverse it. It is more difficult to believe that officials want to beautify campus when several days, even weeks after storms damaged trees across campus, little has been done to clean up the destruction, believing instead that caution tape will keep students safe and from noticing the lack of effort.
