Men’s soccer falls to Syracuse
The U of L men’s soccer team went 1-1 this past week. First they defeated Belmont 1-0 on Wednesday evening in Nashville, Tenn.
“We played pretty well in the first half, and in the early stages controlled the game,” said Head Coach Tony Colavecchia. “We moved the ball round well and created chances.”
In the following competition on Oct. 22 the Cards fell to Syracuse 2-1 in a double overtime thriller.
“Both teams knew the importance of this game, and to lose with 11 seconds left on the clock is hard. A tie would have been a fair result but instead we walked away empty-handed. We just need to bounce back and get ready for South Florida on Wednesday night. Tonight leaves us with a difficult task of qualifying for the Big East Tournament. We probably need to win the final two games.”
U of L’s record drops to 5-9-2 on the season. They will finish the season out at home against No. 19 ranked South Florida. The game is Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. at Cardinal Park.
Women’s golf places sixth in tourney
The U of L women’s golf team placed sixth at the Lady Paladin. This is the best finish for women’s golf in six years. The Cards shot a 913.
“I am really proud of this team’s performance,” said head coach Kelly Meyers Rothberg. “It is our best finish ever at Furman and it is filled with top teams around the country. Cindy did a great job of staying consistent. She likes this kind of grass, being from Florida and is looking forward to our next tournament with the same kind of grass. Adrienne did a great job playing through her injury; I am very proud of her. Overall it was a great team performance.”
Tennis player makes tournament bid

With these three wins, Rotaru claims one of eight spots in the Main Draw.
“Robert is really developing and embracing the things we’re trying to teach him,” said U of L Head Coach Rex Ecarma. “His game is really flourishing and he beat one of the better freshmen in the Big Ten to advance to the main draw of the Midwest Regional Main Draw.”
