The minute I left class and headed towards the quad, I saw the fair was already in full swing. Students were milling around the booths set up by representatives from groups such as the Arts and Sciences Student Council, the McConnell Center, the Writing Center, as well as the C.O.N.E.C.T. (Caring of New students Experiencing College Transitions) and P.E.A.C.C. (Prevention Education & Advocacy on Campus and in the Community) programs. I talked briefly with Eileen Duggan, a representative from the A&S Student Council. She talked about events the council was doing in the future, such as a possible Ping-Pong tournament in the future, freshman elections on the 9th and 10th, a mural contest open to anyone interested (call 852-2347 for more information), and an open house they host every week in Davidson Hall, room 112, from 11-1. They watch movies; there is food, and a place to hang out with other students. I also talked to Cheryl Neal, the representative from the P.E.A.C.C. program, and she mentioned a rally and march to be held on September 24th. There will be poetry, discussions, music, and speakers. If you have any questions, contact Cheryl Neal at 852-2663 or 852-7014. Those are just a few of the things that were offered at the fair. The other booths consisted thing, it’s here for you.” Another professor, Dr. Kandi Walker, had this to say when asked what the fair offered to students and faculty.
