President: Kurtis Frizzell

Executive Vice President: Puja Sangoi

Academic Vice President: Jody Heil

Services Vice President: Cara Monaco

From the meal plan to the classroom, the big idea for Cardinal Direction is to stand up for students and never take no for an answer.

“When I first decided to run, I approached [the current president, Sana Abhari,] and asked her about the position,” said Kurtis Frizzell, a junior liberal studies and political science major and the current SGA academic vice president. “She said that every SGA president has to face a certain issue… The issue we’ll be focused on will be academics.”

According to Frizzell, U of L only has three scholarships that students are eligible for during each year of their college career. One of the few alternatives to fund a college education with U of L is through UPS.

“What I intend to do as SGA president is start searching for local businesses that can employ students and help pay for tuition, similar to the UPS program,” said Frizzell. “I really believe students deserve to fund their education in more than one way.”

Frizzell said that the Cardinal Direction slate also draws its strength from the diversity of the team. According to Frizzell, Sangoi, the current arts and sciences vice president, is well qualified.

“[She] has the experience necessary to be the executive vice president,” said Frizzell.

The candidates on the slate vary in the organizations they belong to on campus and what departments they study under, offering a wide variety of perspectives.

“One thing I looked at when we made Cardinal Direction was that I didn’t want people who were all in SGA,” said Frizzell. “I think it’s important to have those kinds of candidates. I’d say it’s the balance that really makes us unique, compared with other slates.”
