Thursday, the Student Activities Boards, in cooperation with Universal Pictures held a pre-showing of the new “Fast and Furious” movie. The showing was held at the Baxter Avenue Theatre on Bardstown road.
This latest installment, and fourth movie, in the “Fast and the Furious” franchise, reunited the original cast. Reflecting this, the film’s main ad line boasted: “New Model, Original Parts.” With the speed of a new model racer, the film quickly immersed the audience into a rich story line, and a set of genuine characters.
Carrying the weight of responsibility to the movie’s genre, director Justin Lin intricately wove in ties from each of the sequel’s predecessors. Still this newest thriller is a stand alone piece, which even first time viewers can enjoy and understand.
Perhaps, the most astounding aspect of the film was its ability to be truly effective without the use of nudity or excessive language. There are a few instances of sexual reference, as well as the excited exclamations anyone would make barreling 200 miles an hour through an underground tunnel. None the less, this is one action packed thriller.
The film is set to release April 3, at theaters everywhere with a rating of PG-13.
Everyone is encouraged to take some time in the next few weeks to go on a fast and furious joy ride.
Cardinals, unfortunately, don’t have thumbs, but if they did then this Cardinal would have both of them way up for Justin Lin’s “Fast and Furious.”
