Leadership development. Networking. Meeting new people. Stepping outside ones comfort zone.
These are all phrases junior mathematics major Jonathan Perry used to describe Greek life at the University of Louisville. Perry has been a member of Sigma Chi for two years now and is president of the Greek organization.
“I pledged in the fall of my freshman year, and it is one of the best things I have ever done. I can’t even begin to explain all the opportunities that come with it,” said Perry. “I highly encourage anyone who is interested to ask and find out more.”
And male students are granted that opportunity this week.
Fraternity RUSH week began on Jan. 13 and lasts until Jan. 16. RUSH week gives undergraduate students at U of L the chance not only to meet with members from the 12 fraternities on campus, but also meet new people, eat free food, and participate in a number of activities.
Bids take place on Wed. Jan. 16 at 6 p.m. with events taking place each night between 6-9 p.m. until then.
Freshman civil engineering major Grant Phelps looks forward to Spring RUSH 2008, where he will be participating for the first time.
“I am really excited about having a great time and eating some great food. RUSH week is a good way to meet people…I think that even if you don’t plan on joining one, you should still RUSH simply to have an awesome time.”
