Among fees which may increase next year are student housing and meal plan rates.

The University of Louisville Board of Trustees is set to consider measures which would up both pricing schedules for the 2007-08 school year.

The agenda for Thursday’s meeting shows proposals that, if approved, mean upping meal plan costs by an average of $140.

Housing rates for traditional halls would increase by an average of $159, and rates for Louisville Hall and campus apartment buildings would go up too.

The motion Trustees will consider to extend campus eatery hours by as much as two hours at some locations includes the increases in mandatory meal plan costs for students living in traditional residence halls. To offset the cost of keeping dining facilities open longer, freshmen students will pay $995 next year, up $145 from this year’s rate; returning students will see a $135 increase, bringing next year’s cost to $560.

Dining locations, including the Terrace Food Court, Halftime Grill and Subway in the Student Activities Center; the Tulip Tree Café in Ekstrom Library; and the Cardinal’s Nest at the bottom of University Tower Apartments would open earlier, close later or add weekend hours if the measure is approved.
